Mr. Jack Harris (St. John's East, NDP):
Mr. Speaker, I am honoured to present a petition from a large number of residents of St. John's and other parts of Newfoundland and Labrador who are opposed to the decision to close the marine rescue coordination centre in St. John's. They are concerned that the government needs to understand and acknowledge that the closure of the centre will mean the service will suffer and lives will be put at risk.
Mr. Jack Harris (St. John's East, NDP):
Mr. Speaker, this is on a different subject. I forgot I had a second one here. This one is in connection with the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre in St. John's. The government has announced its closure and the petitioners are asking the government to reverse its decision to close the Newfoundland and Labrador Marine Rescue Coordination Centre in St. John's.
Mr. Jack Harris (St. John's East, NDP):
Mr. Speaker, I have the honour to present a petition signed by a number of residents of St. John's, Newfoundland and surrounding communities. I also see signatures from Kenora, Ontario, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and Victoria, B.C.
